Edie Shuman-Gibson, BSDH, MSc, MAADH is a charismatic, knowledge-wealthy trainer with nearly 3 decades in dentistry, 20 exclusively in implants, and a mission and passion to affect CHANGE! She incorporates real world experiences and humor into all her programs, making difficult subjects fun, empowering, and thought provoking for the entire TEAM! She is a 2013 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction recipient. Edie owned an independent dental hygiene practice, called About Face Dental Hygiene, until spinal surgery ended her full-time clinical career & changed the course of her life.
As the Founder and CEO of IHS Empowerment Group (the transition experts!), Edie offers life-changing seminars designed to empower participants to “get unstuck from their stuckness.” She is also a Clinical Trainer/Advisor for The Implant Consortium, a Corporate Trainer for Balancing Life’s Issues, Inc., a Volunteer Coordinator for CASA, and, along with her husband Chris, runs a transitional living facility for men recovering from addictions called The New Adams House. She is the CO Western Slope, Regional Assimilation Coach/Facilitator for Celebrate Recovery.
Edie is pursuing a MS in Psychology and training to be a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC). She is the former Executive Director, Certified Educator and founding Fellow of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries (ADIA). She served on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Practical Hygiene, is a Thought Leader/National Trendsetter for Hu-Friedy, a Key Opinion Leader for Crown Seating, Sunstar & PDT Instruments. Edie is a contributing author to the bestselling book, Overcoming Mediocrity: Dynamic Women Who Have Created Their Own Lives of Significance. She shares her life with her husband Chris and daughter Makaila in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Crested Butte, CO.
